Who we Are
Development Knowledge Link Africa (DEVLINK) is a civil society organization committed to the promotion of human rights for women and children with special emphasis on poverty, health and socio-cultural factors that lead to gender disparities in our community. It was registered in Kenya under the NGO Coordination Act in April 2003 as a National Non-Governmental Organization and Non-profit making organization with a mandate to work countrywide. DEVLINK is engaged in several frontline human rights initiatives geared towards health promotion, dignified livelihood and access to justice by the poor and vulnerable in our community.

DEVLINK Goals
To help in the reduction of widespread poverty, disease, and ignorance to improve the welfare of the less privileged in the community.
Since its inception, DEVLINK has invested heavily on promotion of human rights through skill transfer and information sharing as the only guarantee to individual freedom. In DEVLINK, we believe that knowledge is power and through access to information women can take their rightful position in decision making on issues that affect them directly at various levels in the community including at family level as well as at the national level. Through empowerment, women who have been disillusioned by distorted socialization dictates /values through many generations can be able to socialize their own progenies to uphold human rights for all irrespective of gender differences.
The philosophical foundation behind the creation of DEVLINK is based on the phrase explicated as ‘Denying people knowledge and information is denying them their right/livelihood’.
The organization is committed to seeing a society where all people regardless of gender, age, social class, ethnicity or health status live a dignified life free from discrimination.
DEVLINK has justified her position as a social change agent and a human right advocate on gender based violence and for those living with HIV/AIDS; and because the problem of a child is always a woman’s problem, DEVLINK emphasizes on the promotion of children’s rights including orphans and vulnerable children.
The following are a summary of our goals:
- Enhance gender equality
- Reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the community
- Increased access to justice
- Increased access to information through mass media and internet
- Increase efficiency and effectiveness of the organization
